WHAT'S Holding YOU Back?!?

If you are anything like me, you are glad the election is over! We have probably all received many phone calls and e-mails about who to vote for - or who not to vote for. We have received countless fliers and have seen endless television coverage, and we have for sure seen our fair share of political ads, but now that is all behind us!

In recent weeks, I have heard over and over again, "I am going to start my own business when this election is over." I understand that we are in uncertain times so people are becoming anxious to have their "own" means of income, but others are still hesitant to start something new.

So what is holding you back from achieving your own financial freedom today? We can all come up with countless reasons (or excuses) for not starting our own business, but if your "reason" was the Presidential election, ask yourself again, what is holding you back?

Here's a list of reasons I commonly hear:

"I don't have enough money to start."

The initial cost is as low as$39.95 per month - which is less than the cost of a single cup of coffee each day for one month. And remember this is a money MAKING business! You have a great product to market.

"The holidays are coming soon."

Yes, they are! What a great time to get started with all the holiday sales ahead!

As promised in my previous post I am about to fill everyone in on the winner of that Pink-Theme Votive Trio Heart Basket, but first here's a peek at the final product!

This Pink Gift set was created for and awarded to the highest individual contributor in our Passionately Pink for the Cure campaign! In a time of financial difficulties all around it is especially rewarding to "give back" and our project was well received! EVERYONE is to be commended and all donations greatly appreciated!

Thinking PINK with POMEGRANATE!

Most of my time had to be spent at my desk on the pc today, so instead of filling the house with amazing scents for only the furbabies to enjoy I opted to light just a single jar in my home-office. I am focusing on my Breast Cancer Awareness campaigns and being Passionately Pink for the Cure, I was inspired to burn Pink for Inspiration! Guess what? It worked like a charm...one of those baskets is well on course; in what else, but a PINK theme with a POMEGRANATE votive trio!

Candle Secrets & Tricks

Okay, so there's really no secret or trick to successfully burning a candle, but I will share some tips that are sure to increase and enhance your scented candle burning experiences! Check out my 8 guidelines below for safe, long-lasting enjoyment of any scented candle!

SAFE CANDLE BURNING GUIDELINES
1.) Never burn candles unattended!

2.) Before lighting, trim the wick to about ¼" - do this EACH TIME your candle is relit ~ wicks longer than this size cause the candle to burn hotter, therefore quicker as well!

3.) For maximum performance, burn candles no longer than 3-4 hours, extinquish and allow wax pool to cool/harden, and then relight if desired.

4.) Candle flame height should be between ½" and ¾" - no more! If the flame is higher than ¾", try trimming the wick, and if still no improvement consider moving the candle, as it may be in a "bad" location.

5.) Drafts in a room that are created from ceiling fans, high-traffic areas or windows and doors, etc. can and will change any candles performance! For best results do not burn the candles in areas where there are strong drafts.

6.) If candle flame is too low and it's not forming a complete wax pool, extinguish candle, and pour out the wax pool, which allows the flame size to increase, and the candle to burn hotter and more completely.

7.) When burning votives, for the very best performance and length of burn time, use a snug glass holder - NOT too small as it may cause the candle to catch fire. DO NOT burn votives on a plate or other flat, open surfaces - this will cause the candle to burn very fast and/or collapse completely!

8.) The WICK is the single most important aspect to any candle and they MUST be maintained and trimmed when necessary because all parts of the candle get absorbed and released through the wick!

Now, if you want to go beyond safety, let's talk quality! Here are a few benefits to MY line of gourmet scented candles...

1.) Our candles are cleaner burning, "low-soot" or if you prefer, "90% soot-free". The eco-friendly wax used in our gourmet scented candles is a proprietary blend of all-natural, renewable materials.

Ooo, that smell of the day in our household is HOT APPLE PIE! I just had to burn this scent this weekend to get us in the fall holiday spirit! We had a votive, or two ;), burning in every room and the whole house smelled FANTASTIC!

A Tisket, A Tasket...baskets, Baskets, BASKETS!

The gift giving season is fast approaching and I, for one, WILL NOT spend as we have done in the past years! This will be a year of GIFT BASKETS!

I stumbled into a "gift basket makers gold mine" recently when I found that they were giving away baskets at my local thiftstore! Yes, you heard that right...FREE for the taking! They had a couple of tables and a few large boxes out in front of the store with a sign saying, "All Items Outside FREE"! Now, I had already decided on gift basket gifts this year and journeyed to the thriftstore fully prepared to pay for a few "diamonds in the rough" that would need to be dusted, cleaned, maybe painted and/or hot-glued, but most definitely at a cost, so needless to say, I was thrilled!!!

I dug and plundered and ended up with five large baskets, which will be excellent for making up gifts with my eco-friendly candles, pies and cinnamon buns, and seven medium/smallish ones that will be perfect for my mineral makeup, bath and body sets.

Just out of curiousity; and because I love to brag to hubby when I score some savings before the holiday spending, I took the time to price comparable baskets at my local Wally-World...now, I know you all KNOW what store I'm referring to...and I'm proud to say my thriftstore finds saved us at least $75. - $100.00! Woo-Hoo, that means more to spend on the goodies to fill them!

So, I would love to hear from anyone else making up gift baskets, jar-gifts, cookie tins, or any other type of "homemade" holiday gifts! What goes into your baskets? What cookie recipes do you make up to send? Do share! ;)
